I had the blessing of counseling this couple 2 months before officiating their wedding. They came to me after they both recovered from realizing failed marriages. They did not want to get married in the church and wanted a Spirit-filled ceremony. I have known the groom since third grade. When he inquired about my officiating service I graciously agreed to perform their service in New Jersey.

Month's later they were in the planning stages and struck a wall trying to find a premarital counselor. During a conversation with my friend I offered him the counseling services. I had received training from my father in the Lord who ordained me along with my educational training but I never professionally extended my service. God gave me confidence to offer because I was committed to serving my friend and his fiance to prepare them for the blessed day. Premarital counseling is an important aspect of preparation that often goes unrealized.

I developed a questionnaire and prepared a 6 week schedule for them. From my home in Atlanta I was able to counsel them biweekly for 5 consecutive sessions via video web hosting. To their surprise we would work through complex issues which were hot items they needed Biblical and professional counseling to work through. Ultimately, they were prepared for our final face to face session where we continued to uncover relevant matters to prepare them. No matter how difficult the task, they were willing to work together to realize the goals we set forth.

Their wedding was Heavenly! Every detail regarding their vows, the prayers and the rings was tailor made just for them in accordance with certain traditions they both agreed on. At the conclusion, Lance said to me "you exceeded my expectations. Thank you." I am grateful for their willingness to share their story with you all. Serving Lance and Valerie made me aware of the fact that I should publicly advertise my services to meet the needs of other Christian couples who are planning destination and/or banquet hall weddings. Today they are a blessed couple living the Conqueror Lifestyle.
